There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death. Proverbs 14:12

As intelligent beings, we have our thought patterns and our learned behaviours that lead and guide us on life’s journey. We learn these over time and depending on the amount of stimulus we invest in their development, we gain mastery of them.‘Dwelling in the secret place of the Most High’ is one behaviour that we need, but have not invested adequate time in learning. Choosing to spend time with God, seeking first His kingdom and its righteousness, being truly hungry and thirsty for His presence…

What is the way forward?
How do we make this choice that affects our time in this world and the next? How do we overcome the plethora of distractions that hit us from the big screen, social media and print media?

I believe we must simply choose.
All athletes choose to train, so that they are always ready for any competition that comes along – they improve their ratings continuously. They know that if they should take a break, some energetic youngster will move up the ladder and they move down automatically. They choose to sacrifice a lot that others indulge in, in order to adhere to their lifestyle choices.

Today, I meditate on the choices I must make, in order to remain actively connected to My Heavenly Father. I am embarrassed by the poor choices I have made previously; choices that have distracted me and I am reminded of the need for repentance – a true turn around, a return to the King. This is the way forward.

Job 22:21-30 (The Message Translation)
“Give in to God, come to terms with him
and everything will turn out just fine.
Let him tell you what to do;
take his words to heart.
Come back to God Almighty
and he’ll rebuild your life.
Clean house of everything evil.
Relax your grip on your money
and abandon your gold-plated luxury.
God Almighty will be your treasure,
more wealth than you can imagine.
You’ll take delight in God, the Mighty One,
and look to him joyfully, boldly.
You’ll pray to him and he’ll listen;
he’ll help you do what you’ve promised.
You’ll decide what you want and it will happen;
your life will be bathed in light.
To those who feel low you’ll say, ‘Chin up! Be brave!’
and God will save them.
Yes, even the guilty will escape,
escape through God’s grace in your life.”
